Dimensional Optics

Dimensional Optics® Introduces New Website Navigation for Samsung® and Mitsubishi® 3D Customers

Screenshot of Mitsubishi Shopping Experience

San Luis Obispo, CA (PRWEB) February 16, 2012

The average 3D customer is unaware of what they need to know to make an informed decision about buying 3D Glasses.

Dimensional Optics has built their online shopping experience with the customer in mind; making purchasing 3D glasses as easy as possible. All major 3D TV manufacturers are represented on http://www.DimensionalOptics.com and for each brand, a superior shopping experience is presented.

Samsung® and Mitsubishi®, make shopping for 3D glasses and components challenging due to technology changes within each respective 3D TV product assortment. This can lead customers to purchase the wrong items which are not compatible with their 3D TV’s. Dimensional Optics has simplified the buying process for the customer by asking them the year they bought the television and model number, something the customer is likely familiar with. The new Dimensional Optics navigation will direct the customer to the right components needed for their specific 3D TV.

Samsung® has two different types of technology for Active 3D glasses, Infrared (IR) and Radio Frequency (RF/ Blutooth®). The 2010 “C series” 3D TVs use Infrared and the 2011 “D Series” 3D TVs use a Radio Frequency signal. The Samsung® 3D customer is asked which model year 3D TV they own and are taken to the correct product offering. http://www.dimensionaloptics.com/Samsung.aspx

Mitsubishi® shoppers are in a similar situation. The newest 840 & 740 series 3D televisions have a built in IR emitter, whereas the rest of the Mitsubishi® 3D TV product offering requires an external emitter. Dimensional Optics’ new navigation removes the need of educating the customer on all the nuances that do not concern them and simply asks customers what model 3D TV they own. After the selection has been made, the consumer is taken to a product offering that accurately matches what 3D equipment is required. http://www.dimensionaloptics.com/Mitsubishi.aspx

The goal behind the redesign of the shopping experience is to make shopping for a complicated product like 3D glasses as simple and easy as possible while at the same time highlighting the features and benefits that make Dimensional Optics’ products superior to the competition.

Book Critics are Praising Best-Selling Author Peter Thomas Senese’s ‘Chasing The Cyclone’ – Renowned Author Fights Against International Child Abduction

Book Critics are Praising Best-Selling Author Peter Thomas Senese’s ‘Chasing The Cyclone’ – Renowned Author Fights Against International Child Abduction

Peter Thomas Senese’ CHASING THE CYCLONE

(PRWEB) January 08, 2012

Imagine having your child internationally abducted abroad, disappearing in a sea of billions of faces. Now Imagine that the only help you’re going to get trying to locate your child rests solely on your own shoulders. Best-selling author Peter Thomas Senese, who unexpectedly became a parent Chasing The Cyclone of international child abduction is pleased to announce the release of his deeply inspired Chasing The Cyclone, a novel about a father’s global journey into the unthinkable world of child abduction critics and readers everywhere are praising as a thrilling, can’t-put-down book with a purpose. Chasing The Cyclone is now available in E-book, and will be released in hardcover later this month wherever books are sold.

The Examiner, in its review of Peter Thomas Senese’s “Chasing The Cyclone” stated that the novel, “Very well change the way you look at life, child custody, and interactions with your child’s other parent. I cannot endorse this book strongly enough.” Amazon top book reviewer Daniel Jolley supported the Examiner’s statement when the renown book critic said, “I would go so far as to encourage every loving parent to read this book.” Similar sentiments have been shared by some of Amazon’s top book reviewers, Peter Thomas Senese’s novel “Chasing The Cyclone” is a masterful, high-octane international legal thriller that enraptures readers into the dark and unthinkable world of global parental child abduction.

Inspired by the best-selling author’s own experiences racing into the storms of child abduction, Amazon’s critics have called “Chasing The Cyclone” ‘a Call-To-Arms against this worldwide epidemic and Peter Thomas Senese as a master storyteller.’ “Chasing The Cyclone” is now available via E-book from online merchants, and will be available in hardcover wherever books are sold in the beginning of 2012.

Peter Thomas Senese commented, “Chasing The Cyclone is many things. The storyline of what occurs for children and targeted parents of international abduction is in itself, a very tense, thrilling, and insane plot that unfortunately many real-life parents of abduction can relate to. However, throughout the unthinkable, there are in fact many important issues covered that impacts tens of millions of people each year. I am humbled and satisfied that reviewers of ‘Chasing The Cyclone’ have enjoyed and embraced this story. It means a great deal to me.”

Top critics and reviewers have praised Peter Thomas Senese’ “Chasing The Cyclone.”

…”Chasing The Cyclone” isn’t just a powerful novel; it’s a call to arms against a growing epidemic that is tearing lives apart behind the headlines… “Chasing The Cyclone” is much more than just a superb, can’t-put-down novel, though; it is a book with a purpose… Thomas has become an outspoken advocate on this issue, and ‘Chasing The Cyclone’ makes for a clear and profoundly effective call to action. I would go so far as to encourage every loving parent to read this book, as the bond between this father and son is one to be emulated… (Amazon top book reviewer Daniel Jolley)

…”Chasing The Cyclone” will shake the audience, this exciting cautionary thriller grips readers from the onset… (Amazon top book reviewer Harriet Klausner)

…Peter Thomas Senese now opens the windows on the magnitude of these tragedies in his excellent “Chasing The Cyclone”… As if the fast paced energy of this story weren’t enough to satisfy the reader, Peter Thomas demonstrates his quality as a writer of distinction on many levels… this impossible to put down book… (Amazon top book reviewer Dr. Grady Harp)

…Chasing the Cyclone” is the second book I’ve read by Peter Thomas Senese, and like “The Den of the Assassin,” it’s a real page turner… This was a book I could not put down. Thomas has a gift in writing a compelling novel that not only keeps the reader engaged, but educates as well. (Amazon top book reviewer Shelley Gammon)

. . . I highly recommend Chasing the Cyclone as a must-read. You will not be able to put it down. It may very well change the way you look at life, child custody, and interactions with your child’s other parent. I cannot endorse this book strongly enough. . . (The Examiner)

Added Peter Thomas Senese, “Chasing The Cyclone” is an entertaining book many readers have connected to as it is a serious legal thriller that hits a nerve with our desire to love our children best we can. Knowing first-hand what it is like to have this type of horror enter your life, I have tried to make a difference for other parents. Part of that is donating 100% of my royalties to the I CARE Foundation.”

Patricia Lee, a highly respected international family law attorney practicing international child abduction for nearly 20 years and a Director of the I CARE Foundation (International Parental Child Abduction Research and Enlightenment Foundation) stated, “I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Senese first, not as an acclaimed fiction writer, but as a dedicated child advocate helping victimized parents work through the morass of financial, legal and practical issues in their attempts to reunify with their children.I am humbled by his fierce dedication and support to the I CARE foundation, which portends to be a milestone in the State Department’s efforts to recruit and train lawyers in this area of the law in order to better serve targeted children and parents, while also educating an uneducated judiciary. Thank you, Peter for all of your impactful dedication.”

Breast Implant Registry Aids Future of Breast Augmentation According to Chicago Plastic Surgeon

Breast Implant Registry Aids Future of Breast Augmentation According to Chicago Plastic Surgeon

Plastic Surgeon in Chicago Supports Breast Implant Registry to Aid Future of Breast Augmentation

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) December 13, 2011

At his Chicago plastic surgery practice, Dr. Brian Braithwaite says he is encouraging his breast augmentation patients to be diligent in their post-operative care and follow-ups by participating in a recently established breast implant registry. The registry, while not mandatory at this time, is being implemented to help surgeons and implant manufacturers track the success of implants and improve their quality. By keeping record of the implant type and medical history of every patient, Dr. Braithwaite says he hopes the registry will offer valuable information to further enhance safety for patients. For his patients who have undergone a procedure to have breast implants in Chicago, he says registering with the program ensures safe documentation that can aid in the improvement of patient care and quality implant manufacturing.

Developed to help record reported cases of a rare condition called Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) are currently working on extending the registry to encompass all breast implant patients. Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (ALCL) is a treatable condition that manifests in scar tissue, found in only 34 patients out of the five to ten million in the world who have had breast implants. Dr. Braithwaite says he supports the FDA and ASPS efforts and urges his Chicago breast augmentation patients to participate in the registry. He says that the registry can aid in promoting the future of breast implant technology by tracking data to show which implants are most effective and which implants are associated with the most complications. “As the ASPS establishes a national registry with the FDA, our society will help to foster better insight into this extremely rare condition related to scar tissue around the implant. In the long run, more scientific data is always more beneficial to silicone breast augmentation patients because it enhances the safety of these devices.”

For patients who have already undergone breast augmentation or are considering a procedure involving breast implants, Dr. Braithwaite says to be sure to consult a surgeon who supports breast implant registration. He adds that by encouraging patients to register their implants, doctors display their commitment to patient care and the future of the safe practice of breast augmentation and reconstruction. “All ASPS member surgeons should continue to embrace the recommendations of both the ASPS and the FDA because the information obtained from such a registry contributes to patient safety, a paramount concern in cosmetic surgery.”

Research by My Colleges and Careers Connects Recent Scientific Studies, Proving that Higher Education Means a Healthier Lifestyle and Longer Life Expectancy

Research by My Colleges and Careers Connects Recent Scientific Studies, Proving that Higher Education Means a Healthier Lifestyle and Longer Life Expectancy

Provo, UT (PRWEB) July 28, 2011

It is a scientifically proven fact that those with a higher lever of education tend to be more physically healthy and have a longer life expectancy. The Wisconsin Longitudinal Study, whose results were released in 2005 in the Journal of Health and Social Behavior, interviewed high school graduates and their families, starting in 1957. Information about their educational attainment and health levels over the next 50 years were monitored. It was found that those who graduated in the top 25 percent of their class were half as likely to have health problems. It was also determined that those who did better in school and continued on to higher education tended to have more critical thinking skills and self-control, which both play a big role in healthy living. By providing tools that help students begin earning a higher education degree, With this new understanding of the connection between good health and higher education, My Colleges and Careers will provide assistance to students in order to help them find online colleges and thereby increase their potential for having a more successful career and a healthier lifestyle.

The Wisconsin Longitudinal Study also listed several factors related to higher education that can play a role in causing better health. The number one factor is that higher education tends to lead to better jobs and higher pay. With a sufficient salary, people are able to afford to live in better housing and buy healthier foods. They also tend to be more satisfied and content with life because they have marketable skills. Another factor the study mentioned was that highly educated people also tend to participate in fewer health-detrimental activities such as smoking, overeating, and overuse of alcohol. Jobs that require a higher level of education also tend to be less physically demanding, and thereby causing less wear and tear on the body and less exposure to any toxic substances. My Colleges and Careers recognizes the importance of education in improving quality of life in all aspects—social, economic, and even physical. The tools on the My Colleges and Careers website were built to make starting your education as simple and convenient as possible.

Another study done by Harvard, published in the Health Affairs journal in 2008, showed that in 2000 a 25-year-old with only a high school diploma had a life expectancy of 75 years, while a college-educated 25-year-old had a life expectancy of 81.6 years. By investing four years into a college education, life expectancy can potentially be extended by six years. My Colleges and Careers fully understands the benefits of getting an education. Unfortunately, many find that it is too time consuming and that they are unable to put the rest of their life on hold to attend school. With an online education, students will be able to simultaneously work, balance a family life, and complete their education. The investment is clearly worth it since life expectancy will increase by more than the number of years it takes to get a degree.

My Colleges and Careers has a variety of tools on their website that were made to match prospective and returning students to an online college or university. The most useful feature of the site is the degree searching tool, which helps students by providing a list of online colleges that offer programs in their field of interest. The site also offers degree and career statistics through helpful infographics, news updates, and lists of the most popular jobs in 2011 and the top paying careers. For example, some of the best careers for this year are found in the health care, technology, and education fields.

The last resource offered by My Colleges and Careers is advice from experts that are posted on their blog. Experts from many different fields and careers write on topics such as job hunting tips, the best careers of the year, and how changes in government policies can help students complete their education and start a career. Many experts even talk about health-related issues, such as eating healthy while on a tight budget or finding time to exercise with an overwhelming schedule. Whether it’s needing to know the elementary school teacher salary or how to become a zoologist, My Colleges and Careers can offer the assistance necessary to start an education. Recent studies prove that the more education one has, the more likely they are to be successful and receive a higher salary, thereby having a longer and healthier life.

My Colleges and Careers is truly committed to helping students complete their higher education through an online school. As a powerful resource for those who have other time commitments and responsibilities, My Colleges and Careers helps potential students find online programs that help them earn their degree through the convenience of the Internet. My Colleges and Careers is able to provide the tools and services needed for students to complete their education and start a successful career.

6.2 Million Americans Go Online for their Education

6.2 Million Americans Go Online for their Education

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) August 26, 2011

Marketdata Enterprises, a 32-year old market research firm that has tracked a wide variety of service sectors since 1979, has released a groundbreaking new 115-page report entitled: Online Education: An Industry & Competitor Analysis. The study traces the “distance learning” business from 2002-2015 forecasts.

Critics of e-learning say that learning alone via a computer does not provide the enriching intellectual exchange that in-person classes offer. Because the industry is so new, naïve consumers may not know the difference between accredited institutions and the estimated 700 fly-by-night operations that imply accreditation and charge steep prices, or sell fake degrees. What’s the quality of online education degrees? Are they readily accepted by employers? Are they worth the high price tags, as much as $ 50,000+? The jury is still out on all of these issues.

According to Research Director, John LaRosa: “Online education is a fairly new and high growth industry, with its share of growing pains. Growth was fueled by technology and the ability to offer courses via the Internet, to time-pressed working adults seeking to switch careers or augment their skills to make them more marketable in recessions. However, Title IV loans such as Pell Grants were a little too easy to obtain and many students have defaulted on loans that can top $ 50,000. This has resulted in 2011 being a transition year as competitors adjust their recruitment methods. Beyond this year, growth should resume.”

Report’s major findings:

Market Value… Marketdata analysts estimate that the online education market was worth $ 60.5 billion in 2010—up 24% over 2009. However, the string of 8 consecutive years of double-digit growth will end this year, as enrollments fall sharply and revenues drop by 3.2%. This is due to all the uncertainty over new Federal scrutiny and rules and their effect on schools’ recruitment and other practices. Revenues are forecast to grow 7.7% per year from 2012 to 2015–reaching $ 78 billion.

Major Competitors… Seven of the major online ed schools posted first-half 2011 revenues of $ 5.6 billion, led by the University of Phoenix. Their combined sales were down by 3.2%. Public companies include: Univ. of Phoenix (Apollo Group), Capella Education, Strayer Univ., American Public Education, Education Management, Career Education, DeVry, ITT Education Services, and Corinthian College. Added to these are many other private non-profits and an estimated 400 “diploma mills” and 300 counterfeit diploma websites selling fake degrees.

Online education program enrollments represented about 30% of the post-secondary total, and this share is expected to rise to 37% by 2015.

Regarding the high price of online degrees, industry insiders claim that the biggest expense for these programs is personnel, and that it takes more time and personnel to develop an online course, including technical personnel. Many schools have to pay a premium for online teachers, since there may be a smaller pool of them available. Schools usually price the programs according to what the market will bear. However, students may find online courses cheaper than traditional ones because they don’t have to take time off of work or to pay for daycare.

6.2 million students are now enrolled in online ed courses (2010), up from just 1.6 million in 2002. Heavy advertising, marketing and recruiting by the large public companies/schools, coupled with easy Federal loan money, and recession-induced career changes, all contributed to the rapid growth of this field.

The industry’s “saturation point” is probably a few years away, and we will know it when the online education market is growing at the same rate as higher education in general—about 1% – 3% per year.

The online education business had its beginnings in the mid-1990s, when the Internet became widely available for commercial use. Back then, the number of companies in this field was in the hundreds. Today, it’s in the thousands.

ABOUT THE STUDY

Online Education: An Industry & Competitor Analysis, published in August 2011, is an independently researched “off-the-shelf” study. The study has 115 pages and 38 tables. It costs $ 1,495 and is also sold by individual chapters. A table of contents is available by mail, email or fax. A 16 pp. Overview summary is available to the public for $ 79. The study traces the market from 2002-2015, examining these topics: how online education programs work, evolution and rapid growth of the business, why the recession helped the business, bogus diploma mills, new federal rules that examine schools’ recruitment practices and student loan default rates, and detailed competitor profiles.

NASBLA appoints Cindy Kalkomey of boat-ed.com to National Education Standards Panel

NASBLA appoints Cindy Kalkomey of boat-ed.com to National Education Standards Panel

Cindy Kalkomey, member of NASBLA’s new National Education Standards Panel and co-founder of Kalkomey Enterprises.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) July 30, 2011

Cindy Kalkomey of Boat Ed® has been appointed to the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators’ new National Education Standards Panel. The 15-member panel, which represents state, federal, nonprofit, commercial and public stakeholder interests, will begin work this year to review national boating education standards.

Kalkomey, co-founder of multi-media publishing and education company Kalkomey Enterprises, played a leading role in developing the boat-ed.com managed online course. NASBLA and Transport Canada have adopted this type of course as their online delivery standard. Kalkomey Enterprises, parent company of Boat Ed and boat-ed.com, provides classroom and/or online education courses for 48 states.

“I have been a boater all my life and appreciate how boating enriches the bonds I have with family and friends,” Kalkomey said. “So others can experience the fun of boating, I look forward to working on education standards to ensure certified boaters have learned how to stay safe and legal.”

Boat Ed joined NASBLA as an associate member in 1998. Kalkomey has actively served on NASBLA’s education committee for 10 years. That experience, combined with a Ph.D. in statistics and a professional career centered on looking at data objectively to draw conclusions, will be a valuable asset in the panel’s work.

The panel will review, develop and revise the national boating education standards using open, consensus-based procedures that conform to the American National Standards Institute’s essential requirements for due process. Panel appointees will be trained on ANSI-based procedures, which include prompt consideration of different views and objections, consensus balloting, a public review of standards drafts, and the opportunity for procedural appeals.

The panel will review the national boating education standards every five years beginning in 2011 with the most current standards forming the basis for the first review. An initial “call for proposed revisions” to the standards will be announced after the panel organizes its work. The NASBLA website will provide instructions for submitting proposed revisions, the standards documents up for review, and other resources.

Other members appointed to the panel to represent state interests are Anthony Cardoza (N.H.), Ed Huntsman (Ariz.), Jeff Johnson (Alaska), MariAnn Koloszar (Ore.), and Betsy Woods (Tenn.) The members appointed to represent federal boating agency interests are John Malatak (USCG) and Robin Freeman (USCG-Aux). In addition to Kalkomey of boat-ed.com, Kerry Moher (BoaterExam) was appointed to represent commercial interests. The members appointed to the panel to represent nonprofit interests are John Adey (ABYC), Joe Gatfield (Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons), and Terry Leitz (NMMA). Those members appointed to represent the public interests are Pam Dillon, Joseph Connolly II and Bob Sweet (USPS).

Traditional Universities? Continuing and Professional Education Units Position to Win in the Online Education Market

Traditional Universities’ Continuing and Professional Education Units Position to Win in the Online Education Market

BOSTON, MA (PRWEB) August 30, 2006

Traditional colleges’ and universities’ continuing and professional education (CPE) units for adult learners are leading the charge in meeting the demand for online education courses and degree programs. According to research highlights released today from Eduventures, the leading research and consulting firm for the education industry, between 16 percent and 20 percent of the typical CPE unit’s course enrollments are now from online courses, and online enrollments in continuing and professional education are growing at an annual rate of 20 percent.

“This rate of growth is more than five times the average enrollment growth rate for higher education generally, and highlights how non-profit colleges and universities are leading the way in serving adult learners through their online CPE courses and programs,” says Eduventures Senior Analyst Sean Gallagher.

In its newest report, Benchmarking Online Continuing Education Operations for an Environment of Growth, a product of its Learning Collaborative for Continuing and Professional Education program, Eduventures provides a comprehensive and current view of online continuing and professional education offerings, design and operations, course development, and strategic and operational issues. Some of the highlights from the findings include:

Offerings

Continuing and professional education units’ online course and program “product portfolios” span a wide range of course and program types. The “typical” CPE unit offers approximately 150 for-credit courses, eight degree programs, four certificate programs, and 24 non-credit courses online. Fully online courses and programs – where classroom attendance is not required – represent the most popular online education delivery model, while two-thirds of CPE units offer hybrid courses, which combine online and traditional face-to-face instruction.

Design and Operations

Organizational design plays a major role in the scalability and success of online continuing education provision. CPE units very often take a lead role in managing online course and program development, and in centralizing support services for online students, while partnering with individual academic units (e.g., colleges or academic departments) within their institutions to determine which online courses and programs will be offered. The research identifies four predominant organizational models, “Independent,” “CE-as-Developer,” “Partnership,” and “Academic-Centric,” each with its own benefits and limitations.

Course Development

CPE units often can develop and bring online courses to market in six to seven months, and for the vast majority of colleges, online courses are more expensive to develop than comparable traditional, face-to-face courses. CPE units are benchmarking their course development times and lifecycles and optimizing their faculty compensation structures to develop more efficient online CPE operations.

“As online education becomes a significant overall growth driver for colleges and universities, qualitative and quantitative intelligence on successful models and practices for developing, delivering, and supporting online continuing education offerings is critical,” noted Gallagher. “CPE units can use this data to optimize their offerings and service, and improve their operational performance to compete more effectively with for-profits and other institutions serving adult learners in the growing online education market.”

These represent some of the findings from Eduventures’ report, Benchmarking Online Continuing Education Operations for an Environment of Growth. Higher Education Social Media: Deltak Releases White Paper Discussing the Use of Innovative Technology to Build Engaging Online Learning Environments

Oak Brook, IL (PRWEB) March 11, 2011

Deltak, an industry leader in online higher education services, has released a white paper discussing recent research on social presence as it relates to student engagement in online learning programs.

The paper goes on to discuss trends and emerging learning technologies being developed and employed by Deltak and its partner schools aimed at addressing the topic of social presence in order to improve the overall online student experience.

“Online education is expanding rapidly,” said Rob Schnieders, Chief Learning Officer at Deltak. “Over 30% of students took at least one online course in 2009, and it’s expected that this number will grow to 50% in 2014. The next chapter of online education will be all about demonstrating efficacy and impact. The real question now should be, ‘How do we make online learning great?’ By leveraging new technologies and instructional techniques we can ensure that online education yields outstanding learning outcomes.”

Schnieders’ white paper is titled, “The Evolution of Online Learning: Incorporating and Building Social Presence to Create Engaging Online Learning Experiences.” The second in a series of white papers focused on emerging technologies and innovation in online learning, this paper discusses research on the topic of social presence and introduces technologies Deltak and its partner schools are employing to create more engaging learning experiences for online students.
